MALAYSIA SECTION FIRST AGM On Friday, 9th February 2001 at 4 pm, 13 members and 3 guests of the Malaysia Section witnessed its 1st Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the King Musical Industries’ Studio at Petaling Jaya near Kuala Lumpur - the capital state of Malaysia. The main objective of this event, organized by Mr. Ng Cheong Kien and who was also the elected Chairman, was to nominate its fellow members as section officers for the pro-tem committee. The officers elected were Mr. Jamal Ismail, Secretary; Mr. Wong Wing Thim, Treasurer; Mr. Larry Lee, Mr. Ho Wai Hoe and Dr. Minni Ang, Committee Members; while Mr. Francis Xavier Lazarus and Mr. V. Kumar were elected as the Honorary Auditors. Dr. Minni Ang also volunteered to double-up as the Section WebMaster. After the election, Dr. Roland K. C. Tan, an AES member from the Singapore Section who is assisting the V.P. International Region, had a discussion with his fellow counterparts on various items such as the things to do in a new section. They touched on the various pointers to ensure that the section remains active. The Singapore Section hopes to establish close ties with its nearest neighbour, the Malaysia Section, and to possibly work towards some joint audio activities in the near future.
